prefered method:
Esha EXIT (3 days = day 1 : 5 drops per 25 liter, day 2 : 2 or 3 drops per 25 liter depending on the severity of oodinum day 3 : 2 or 3 drops per 25 liter important then on day 1 also i add half dosage of salt per 14 liter, so if you have 25 liter about ) after 4 days, i change 30% water of the tank. I readd 2 or 3 drops and wait for about 8 days. Then i change 50% water, you can also filter on charcoil to remove the chemicals, or just wait a few days and redo 50%.
note: esha exit is a generic medication to combat whitespot and other parasites, but since it has removed ALL my oodinum problems, i know it works 100% This product has NO COPPER, many other products have copper this is not good and can be poisonous.
other method:
salt only but this requires you must be present at all times to see if it goes wrong!
you add 1 FULL spoon of seasalt (without iodine) per 7 liters ! make sure you dissolve in water first then add the salted dissolved water gradually in 12 hours. Each day for about 3 days, you add 1 spoon extra. I had some success with this, but mostly it just doesnt work and oodinum comes back.
other method:
use pottasiumpermangenate (KMNo4) you can get the crystal powder at the pharmacist.
You dissolve very little powder (a tip point of knife) in water, then gently use a syringe and inject into the tank UNTIL the tank is "purple" but NOT DARK purple, it is harmless to all organisms except if the dosage is too high then plants and snales will die. Also, if you do not AERIATE the tank with AIR, you will have dead fish also if the dosage is too high.
-> the recommended dosage is 1% per 100liter, so 1mg for 100liter, you can go up to 4mg.
This method you do every day twice (morning and evening), and during each redo, before that you change 30% water.
last method: drastic one
remove all the fish in a new tank and treat them there, the old tank you disinfect with a very high dosage of either method but i'm sure you did already this before. this will kill the filter and other material ! you need to restart the filter afterwards.
important : oodinum is very contagious, make sure you quarantine and disinfect your material!
It is not very harmfull if it is in light stage, but once the whole fish is covered, you will have dead fish.
Also, you must find the SOURCE of the oodinum infection. When i have this problem, it came from my live food and frozen live food! Also TUBIFEX is very dangerous! i never used TUBIFEX AGAIN.
When avoiding this, i occasionally have a tank with oodinum but i spot it very fast and then i use EXIT.
Ovviamente ho comprato Esha EXIT e vi terrò aggiornato se veramente funziona così bene!!!
